This year as well as last year our school together with the school in Slavkov u Brna organised a trip tzo Bexhill High School in Bexhill On Sea.

When Going to Britain

It is 8th October 1999 and we have been waiting for our coach that is supposed to take us to Britain since 7:30. It arrived just a few minutes past 9 o'clock. 17 students took their seats as weůů as the headmaster of our school RNDr. Premysl Pokorny and Mr Viktor Hajek. In Slavkov we met the rest of our group - 23 more students with their teachers. When our group was complete the trip could begin. After 3 hours we reached Prague where Petr Zapletal, the President of Asociace malych debrujaru, joined us. 2 hours after that we found ourselves sitting in a Prague restaurant eating the last Czech fool for us for a long time. Finally we were ready to leave our country for Britain. We passed Germany, Belgium and France on our way. In the morning we arrived in Calais where we embarked the ferry. Then we crossed the English Channel, we passed Dover and at 2 p.m. we found ourselves in front of the Bexhill High School. It took us 27 hours to get to Bexhill on Sea.

Accomodation

Every student was picked up by a family that was speaking a completely strang language. They had about 36 hours to get familiar with the English lifestyle and to get used to listening to their language. The teachers were accomodated at Guest Chaos. They had dinners at Ivonne's place that was about 2 minutes' walk through Eastbourne. The food was absolutely delicious. Everybody was very friendly. All teachers went to Windsor on Sunday. The pictures can be seen in the picture gallery.

Monday

Everybody was really happy to see his or her friends. We went to see Maddame Tussauds. We had the Chance to be standing next to many famous people e.g. David Coperfield, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Václav Havel, the Royal family and Princess Diana. You could find figures that were supposed to express different kinds of murders or the victims of Jack the Ripper in the basement. It was really scary. After that we took the typical Englich taxi and we drove through a model of old London. Some of us found a house where Sherlock Holmes was supposed to live. We also saw Greenwich, where the famous Meridian can be found.

Tuesday

On Tuesday we were busy, too. In the morning we took our coach and went to see and exhibiton for children called Touch and Play. Then we vbisited a small town Battle and went shopping to Hastings. There was a disco for us in the evening.

Wednesday

On Wednesday morning we found ourselves in our bus driving to London. We went to see the Science Musseum. After that we saw London's sights - Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, The National gallery, the Monument, the Buckingham Palace, the Trafalgar Square, The Tower of London, the Tower Bridge and St Paul's Cathedral.

Thursday

On Thursday we saw a fort in Eastbourne. The weather was wonderful, so we could see the Beachy Head. The rest of the day we were spending our last pounds and we also finished our packing.

The Way Back Home

At 11a.m. we were picked up by our coach. On the backing way we visited Dover. We were going home at the speed of about 40 miles per hour. Everybody fell asleep and woke up at the Czech frontier.
